Last weekend I shot an amazing wedding on Lanikai beach! The lighting was almost as beautiful as the bride! They came all the way from Japan to get married on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches! Check out these amazing shots I got! I think it may be my favorite groomsmen shot ever!!!! I am going to keep the write up short today because my couple did not want their names up on the blog. That’s ok a picture is worth 1000 words anyway!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to grow up as a kid in the 70′s? Well we headed to the North Shore for a stylized shoot of a day in the life of four girls growing up on the North Shore in the 70′s. Needless to say we had a total rad time and got some killer images! Our models for this shoot were my two oldest daughters, and their two BFF’s, who’s mother also happen to be a n awesome photographer! She loves to work wit kids and you can check her out at www.simplyblissfulphotography.com!
We spent an entire afternoon exploring Haleiwa and finding super fun locations to go along with the looks we had planned. You can bet that I had a “died and gone to Heaven” moment when I came across this vintage VW truck! So excited about this shoot! Check out some of my favorites. Sorry it was almost impossible to narrow it down to just a few. Can’t wait for our next stylized shoot! Already have some awesome ideas. Peace out!
Ok apparently this family was standing in the front of the line when they were handing out the gorgeous gene! No photoshop needed here! We did run into a few hurdles during the shoot beginning with rain, and ending with some crazy hot sun! Only in Hawaii! The kids waited it out like champs and we got some amazing images regardless of mother nature playing games with us. Although they have come to Hawaii on vacation several times, this is their first time to do photos while they were here. I am so excited they chose me to capture this time because it was such a pleasure getting to know Anna and Tony’s adorable children. They are as sweet as they are cute! We had fun exploring while we waited for some good light, and I think Emily set a record for most hermit crabs caught! I think she had nine in her hand at one time. I know this because I got to hold them for her while she did a wardrobe change. That is allot of tickle going on in one hand! Check out the pics and see how this family makes Hawaii look even prettier!
This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Jose and Gina and photographing their wedding at Hickam Airforce Base. From the moment I met Gina I thought she was beautiful on the inside and out. She rocked her wedding dress with grace, and of course I loved that little touch of blue in her sash! My favorite color! Gina and Jose came from Japan to get married in Hawaii. After seeing all the destruction there first hand, they were so blessed to be home with their friends and family celebrating their marriage. So happy that on this day they could celebrate love! This day they could celebrate togetherness. My favorite part of the day was when Gina performed a hula dance for her new husband. It was the first time to see her dance, and the smile on his face tells me he enjoyed every minute of it! Jose and Gina will be returning to Japan to continue lending their suport, and my prayers will be going with them. I am blessed to meet such an awesome couple and capture all the beautiful moments of your day. Thank you for letting me capture such a great love!
I just got home from a three day workshop in Maui with Zack and Jody Gray of Gray Photography! To say it was amazing would be an understatement. First of all let me just say I love these two! They are so fun and down to earth, and best of all so open to helping other photographers succeed! They live in Nashville and spend a good part of their year traveling nationwide to speak, teach, and shoot destination weddings. It was such a blessing to learn from them and their laid back teaching style. If you ever have a chance to take one of their workshops, do it! Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just do it! I also want to take a moment to send a huge Mahalo out to Anna of Anna Kim Photography for putting this workshop together!
I went a day early to get some R&R by the pool! It was fantabulous! Through some great friends of mine I got a room At The Marriott Resort and Spa in Wailea just a stones throw away from the beach. It was just me, a good book, and some sunshine at the adult only pool! Yes not only did I not have to listen to my kids whooping it up, but I didn’t even have to listen to anyone else’s kids! I mean kids whooping it up are great and all, but it was just so nice to have some uninterrupted quite time. To lay by the pool and actually get to close my eyes. To read a book without getting splashed on, take numerous potty breaks, and have the option to close my eyes if I wanted! It was pure bliss!
So day one of the workshop was called “In Camera” This is where they taught us how to nail the perfect exposure in camera every time! In fact we learnt how to nail it so well that Photoshop was not even necessary! Zack and Jody were so good about walking everyone through it all no matter what level of photography they were at. They truely do have a knack for teaching!
Day two was even more exciting as we got to learn and explore off camera lighting. The extremely high tornado like winds made the day a little more difficult but we went into the cute little town of Paia and were able to block out some wind and get some fun shots. I am still shocked and amazed at the looks you can achieve with off camera lighting. I can’t wait to get some new lighting gear and play some more!
Day three was all about business and Marketing and may have been the best of all three days. Ok it may be partially due to the fact that I won two prizes, but mostly because they taught us business strategies that they implemented to get them where they are today! I am so excited to start practicing some of these ideas! I will be sitting down in the near future and coming up with a strategy of my own. One of the leaps I plan on taking is kind of freaks me out, but I am very excited about it at the same time! More to come on that later. In the mean time check out these amazing images I got during the workshop! I heart Zack and Jody! Thank you so much!
